poster design: leap21.
This poster is the result of a retro-futuristic but forward-thinking mindset, one which doesn’t just beckon into the unknown, but craves it. The blue-tinted hue of the void adds to the urgency of the theme of progress and asks what the future may hold. Blending the aesthetic sensibilities of mid-century poster design (Expo 67) with the sinister barrenness of outer space in science fiction from the same era (2001: A Space Odyssey), the result is a compelling but somewhat unnerving visual experience, quite literally demanding that the viewer keep up. By limiting the information to plain, bold white type in the corner of the screen, the visual information is enhanced. The slogan, while taunting in itself, burns into the sky as the only vaguely familiar earthly colour, extending a warm and familiar hand to anyone joining the mission.
